As a Christian ministry, Harvest Clubs of San Diego’s foundational beliefs are rooted in the timeless truths confessed in the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian creeds. These creeds articulate the essential doctrines of the Christian faith. We hold fast to “the faith that was once and for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). We confess and believe all that is taught in the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible, which is the inerrant, infallible, and inspired Word of God. The following is a brief summary of our core beliefs:
God
We believe in one God who is eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, and that exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We confess that God is responsible for creation, providence, salvation, and final judgment.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God. He is truly divine and truly human. As the incarnate Son of God, Jesus Christ lived a sinless life for the sake of fulfilling all righteousness on behalf of his people, died on the cross to atone for their sins, and rose from the dead for their justification and demonstrating his victory over sin, death, hell, the grave, and Satan. Following his resurrection, Christ ascended into heaven and sits at God the Father’s right hand where he reigns as Lord and Christ.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit convicts of sin, regenerates hearts, and indwells believers. The Holy Spirit empowers and equips believers for service and guides them into all the truth.
The Scriptures
We believe that the Scriptures, the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible, are the inerrant, infallible, and inspired Word of God. We believe in the sufficiency, clarity, authority, and necessity of the written Word of God. The Scriptures are sufficient for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness.
Sin
We believe that every human being has a fallen and corrupt nature because of sin. Sin is any want of conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of God. We confess that all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. Sin separates us from God, and is ultimately deserving of God’s judgment.
The Gospel
We believe that salvation is only possible by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Sinners can be forgiven of their sin and justified by God through faith in Christ. Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are then reconciled to God, adopted into his family, and made citizens of the kingdom of heaven.
The Sacraments
We believe that there are two sacraments instituted by Jesus Christ, the head of his Church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The sacraments are a means of grace, because they signify the promises of God and nourish the faith of God’s people. These sacraments are meant to be practiced in the Church until the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Final Judgment
We believe that Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead. Believers in Jesus Christ will enjoy eternal fellowship with God in the new heavens and new earth.
